Recipes

Hi fellow chocolate lovers!

We got some requests about posting recipes with chocolate. We started searching for recipes and finally got into the kitchen for some chocolate baking experience! These recipes are ideal for an instant chocolate need because it doesn't take a long time to make it.

The first recipe is Chocolate Cookies. About three weeks ago, we posted a poll at our blog. Thank you for the votes! We noticed that your favorites were white chocolate, milk chocolate and dark chocolate. These cookies are adjusted to your favorite chocolate flavor because these are delicicous cookies with three sorts of chocolate! What do you need to bake these delicious cookies?
- 110 g christal sugar
- 75 g brown sugar
- 170 g margarine
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg

- 200 g flower
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 75 g milk chocolate pieces
- 75 g dark chocolate pieces
- 75 g white chocolate pieces
- mixing bowl
- mixer
- baking sheet

Step 1. Mix the christal sugar, brown sugar, margarine and vanilla extract. Add the egg, the baking powder and the flower and mix it very well.

Step 2. If you bought chocolate bars for the chocolate, break it into little pieces (chocolate chips).

Step 3. Add the chocolate chips to the mix of step 1.

Step 4. With 2 teaspoons, make little piles and put them on the baking sheet.

Step 5. Bake the cookies for at least 15 minutes in the oven on 180 degrees celcius. This time was recommended in the recipe book we used, but our cookies were baked at least for 25 minutes.

Step 6. After 15-25 minutes, take the cookies out of the oven and let them rest untill they are cooled down. Make sure you conserve them in an air-tight box. Bon appetit!

The second recipe is a fast recipe. It is Chocolate cake from a bowl. This is a very special and fast cake. This cake you do not bake in the oven, but in the microwave. In approximately 10 minutes your cake is done and ready to eat! We love this recipe, because it is fast and very tasty!

You need :
- 4 tablespoons self-rising flour
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 3 tablespoons butter or oil (we used butter)
- 1 tablespoon chocolate chips
- 1 egg
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- a large bowl

How to make this yourself?

Step 1. Put all the dry ingredients (self-rising flour, sugar and cocoa) in the bowl and stir.

Step 2. Break the egg and put it in the bowl with the other ingredients. Mix this very well. There may not be left any lumps or flour in the corners. Put in the milk, butter, vanilla extract and the chocolate chips and stir very well.

Step 3. Put the bowl in the microwave and heat it up for 3 minutes at maximum power (1000 watts). For a micorwave with 750 watts it is 4 minutes. Wait until the cake stops rising and looks firmly.

Step 4. You can eat the cake out of the bowl. However, you can gently move a knife around the edge of the bowl and put the hot cake on a plate.

Our third and final recipe is Fast chocolate fudge.
The preparation is about 2 minutes, macrowave time 2-3 minutes and the stiffen time is 2 hours.

What do you need?
- 450 g dark chocolate
- 1 can (397g) of sweetened condensed milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- a 20 cm square baking dish
- aluminum foil

Start baking!
Step 1. Cover the baking dish with the aluminum foil.

Step 2. Break or cut the chocolate into pieces and put them in a large microwaveable bowl. Then put the condensed milk in the bowl en stir it a little bit.

Step 3. Put the bowl in the microwave and heat up the condensed milk en dark chocolate at maximum power(1000 watts) for 2-3 minutens. For microwaves with a maximum power of 600-750 3-4 minutes. Meanwhile, stir 1-2 times.

Step 4. Take the mix out of the microwave and stir until the mixture is smooth. Put in the vanilla extract and put the mixture in the aluminum foil covered baking dish.

Step 5. Let the mixture cool. If the misture is cooled enough, put it in the refrigerator and let it stiffen for 2 hours.

Step 6. After 2 hours you can get the stiffened mixture from the refrigerator and cut it into chunks!

We hope you will try out these recipes, because they are delicious!

Valentine's Day

Hi fellow chocolate lovers!

Tomorrow it is Valentine's Day. A perfect time to surprise your beloved one with some chocolate!

There are some websites where you can order personalized chocolade. One of these websites are Your Surprise (http://www.yoursurprise.nl/chocolade). If you take a look on this website you can see that there is the possibility to make a chocolate hart with a photograph or a chocolate cart. Your beloved one gets an original gift. This is a real treat for Valentine's Day!

Another very fun and romantic idea is to get your beloved one some strawberries with chocolate. In the video below this text Shelley Young shows you how to make chocolate covered strawberries yourself.

Off course you also can let your imagination run freely and come up with something yourself. If you made something stunning with chocolate, let us know and we wil post it on our blog!

Below you can see some pictures of Valentine's Day chocolate. Beware, it can stimulate your appetite!

We also would like to end this blog with a quote:
"All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt."

Our experience: 'Shockolade Museum' Köln

Hi  fellow chocolate lovers!

We like to put facts and figures about chocolate at out blog, but we noticed that we haven’t shared our personal chocolate favorites and experiences. This blog will reveal a little bit about us and at the end of this blog, you’ll get to know a little bit more about the people behind Chocolicious!
We’d like to start with a chocolate must see, ‘Schokoladen Museum’ in Köln, Germany. We’d been there several years ago and it made our mouth water! One whole day filled with chocolate! We got a guided tour through the museum.

Museum

The aim of the guided tour was to learn about the history of chocolate and the production of chocolate. There was the possibility to walk around and assimilate all the chocolate facts and figures and the nice sculptures. To be very honest, the end of the tour was a highlight to us, the chocolate shop! Offcourse we bought some chocolate (despite the price, it’s quite expensive!) and chocolate souvernirs to our friends and parents. Unfortunately to them, there wasn’t much chocolate left.  Oops!

Sculpture

This our own experience with the chocolate museum in Köln, but there is a lot more to explore! Want to read more about the chocolate museum in Köln? Visit http://www.chocolatemuseum-cologne.com/

We would like to end this blog with a quote: Cocoa strengthens the stomach, enlivens the spirits, thins the juices and the blood, incites the fleshly desires, strengthens the head and relieves pain, and its praises both as nutrition and medicine cannot be sung loudly enough.
Johann Gottfried Kühne, 1717
